In 1929, after selling his ice cream business to H.P. Hood and Sons, James LaSalle Sr. semi-retired.  He and his wife Bertha built a small greenhouse behind the house on Pomeroy Terrance in Northampton.  He soon out grew this half-acre and five years later, 1934, purchased 16-acres of land in Whately, built a large greenhouse and opened the design room in which we work today.
James LaSalle Jr.(Jim) joined his father in 1949 at the age of 21 and 63 years later he is still working a full week and loving it.  His wife Ann worked along side of him while they raised 3 children.  They added greenhouses in '50, '52, and '55. Jim and Ann took over the business in 1957 and incorporated in 1971.  Bill LaSalle served in the army before returning to help his father for six years.
John LaSalle started with the business 1979.  John LaSalle now works alongside of his father, who is "semi-retired" (that's what he calls it).
At LaSalle Florists we have been growing and selling fresh cut flowers and plants for over 75 years.  Our mission is to have the best flowers available to our customers at a reasonable price.  Presently, we grow freesia, lilies and snapdragons in our greenhouses plus dahlias, ornithogoluim and a wide variety of summer cut flowers in our fields.  Bedding plants in the spring and summer fill the greenhouses.  During the Christmas and Easter seasons we furnish a variety of plants.
We choose crops based on our environmental conditions and what may not be available in wholesale markets.  Over the years we have grown carnations, chrysanthemums, gladiolas, freesia, tulips, daffodils, and a host of minor crops.

Our mission in the floral industry is to provide, our customers and friends, home grown flowers from our land and greenhouses when ever possible.  During the summer months and into the fall, we use our own flowers to design signature arrangements with a local flare. It all started in Northampton 1929 and moved to Whately 1934, where we are currently located at 23 LaSalle Drive, for a complete history CLICK HERE.

Substitution Policy:

Flowers are a natural product with harvesting factors dependent on weather and transportation. Although we use our own, when possible, and use a variety of wholesalers in a world wide market, occasionally there will be times when particular flowers may be unavailable. In such situations, the designer will substitute flowers of equal beauty and value. Every effort will be made to maintain size, shape and overall color scheme. If a certain container is not available, we will substitute one of similar quality and design
